The Handyvan Service

The Handyvan Service is a partnership project between AECVS and Help the Aged, set up to make older people feel safer and more secure in their own homes. It covers the Dumfries & Galloway region.

Clients can be referred by the Police, Health Care Professionals, community groups, family members or a self referral.

The Handyvan Service is a free service. Each householder will have the choice of door locks, door chains, spy hole, window locks, smoke alarms and low energy light bulbs and they will be fitted by our Handyvan fitter Stuart Maxwell (pictured left). Small repair jobs can also be carried out where safety/ security is an issue.

To qualify clients must be over 60 years of age and have savings of less than £20,000.
