You are here: What We Do

AECVS plays a key role in supporting and developing the voluntary sector in Annandale & Eskdale – see our services below.

We also represent the interests of local groups in the Community Planning process, making sure the views of voluntary groups in Annandale & Eskdale are heard by partner agencies such as Dumfries & Galloway Council and Dumfries & Galloway Health Board. AECVS is the voluntary sector representative on Annandale & Eskdale Rural Partnership Joint Officer Group, and on the Executive Committee of Annandale & Eskdale Local Health Partnership.

Annandale & Eskdale CVS provides support services and resources for the local voluntary sector. These include:

  • Funding Advice
  • Good governance for Voluntary and Community Organisations
  • Information Services
  • Office Services
  • Training

Funding Advice
We can advise and help organisations to determine where to go for funding, and help with the completion of an application. In addition to a stock of application forms to major Funders (e.g. Awards for All, Lloyds TSB) we have a programme in place called FUNDERFINDER which can more accurately match your needs with a funder. AECVS member groups can access Funderfinder at our offices, and use our funding guides for further information.

AECVS is an ambassador for Social Investment Scotland, and can advise social enterprise organisations on sources of financial support.

Contact the office on info@aecvs.org.uk for more details.

Good Governance for Voluntary and Community Organisations
AECVS can provide advice on:

  • Organisational status, e.g. constitutions, company limited by guarantee.
  • Good practice issues, for example, equal opportunities, roles & responsibilities of committee members, charitable status and charity law
  • Big Picture Quality Improvement Training. AECVS is a ‘Peer Supporter’ for the Big Picture process, and can advise groups on how to use this tool to improve their work, www.thebigpic.org.uk
  • Managing grants; financial procedures
  • Recruitment and selection process
